Who am I?
Hi, my name is Chelsea! My husband, Adam and I are from Seattle, WA, but we currently live in Dublin, Ireland. As a young girl I was a gymnast, and I’ve always loved doing handstands!!!
For the past year, Adam and I have had the privilege of traveling all over Europe. I don’t remember exactly how it happened, but somewhere along the way Adam started taking pictures of me doing handstands in front of major landmarks and beautiful scenery. This has become a travel ritual for us, and now I do handstands nearly everywhere we go!
What is Handstands for Humanity?
I decided to bring purpose to these handstands by raising awareness of social justice issues, challenging people to take action, and encouraging them to maybe do something out of the ordinary along the way.
Thus, Handstands for Humanity was born.
In addition to raising awareness, I hope to raise funds for One Day’s Wages (ODW), a “movement of people, stories and actions to alleviate extreme global poverty.” ODW partners with and funds other reputable organizations completing projects in developing countries that address various aspects of poverty.
I will be doing handstands around the world to raise awareness and money for the Haiti Relief Fund. In 2010, ODW raised and distributed $100,000 to their initial partners, World Concern and Partners in Health to help with disaster relief work in Haiti after the devastating earthquake. ODW has renewed its commitment to Haiti and is raising an additional $100,000 to support the continued effort to rebuild Haiti. A lot of progress has been made in Haiti (learn about the progress here), but there is still much more to be done! I’ve made the first donation and I would like to ask you to join me in supporting this project - donate here.
Thank you for stopping by!
